Description
Epifenac 75Mg 3Ml 3Amp contains a solution of diclofenac sodium at a concentration of 75 milligrams per 3 milliliters, provided in a pack of 3 ampoules. Diclofenac sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by reducing the production of prostaglandins, substances in the body that cause pain, inflammation, and fever. This formulation is specifically designed for intramuscular (IM) injection, allowing for relatively rapid absorption and relief of acute pain and inflammation.
Epifenac injection is indicated for the treatment of:
- Acute exacerbations of inflammatory and degenerative forms of rheumatism such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis.
- Acute gout attacks.
- Post-traumatic and post-operative pain and inflammation.
- Renal colic.
Directions for Use:
Epifenac 75Mg 3Ml solution is administered by intramuscular (IM) injection, usually into a large muscle such as the gluteus maximus (buttock muscle). The dosage and duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor based on the severity of your condition and your individual response. The usual adult dose is one 75mg ampoule once daily. In severe cases, the daily dose may exceptionally be increased to two 75mg injections, administered with an interval of several hours, preferably into different buttocks. The maximum daily dose is typically 150mg.
This medication is usually administered by a healthcare professional. If you are trained to self-inject, follow the instructions provided by your doctor carefully.
The injection should be given slowly and deeply into the muscle using aseptic techniques to minimize the risk of local reactions.
The use of diclofenac injection should be limited to the acute phase of treatment, with transition to oral or rectal forms as soon as feasible.
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor if you have any known allergies to diclofenac, aspirin, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen), or any other medications. Allergic reactions can range from mild skin rashes to severe and potentially life-threatening anaphylaxis.
- Provide your doctor with your complete medical history, especially if you have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding, heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, or bleeding disorders.
- NSAIDs like diclofenac can increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke, especially with long-term use or at high doses. Inform your doctor if you have any heart conditions or risk factors for heart disease.
- Diclofenac can also increase the risk of serious gastrointestinal (GI) adverse events including bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach or intestines, which can be fatal. These events can occur at any time during use and without warning symptoms, especially in elderly patients.
- Use diclofenac with caution if you have asthma, as it may trigger bronchospasm.
- Diclofenac can affect kidney function. Your doctor may monitor your kidney function, especially if you are elderly, have kidney disease, or are taking diuretics.
- Diclofenac can affect liver function. Your doctor may monitor your liver function during treatment.
- Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications that may increase the risk of bleeding, such as blood thinners (e.g., warfarin, heparin), aspirin, or other NSAIDs.
- If you are pregnant, especially during the last trimester, diclofenac should generally be avoided as it may cause problems in the unborn baby and interfere with labor and delivery. Consult your doctor for advice.
- Diclofenac may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding while using Epifenac injection.
- This medication is not recommended for use in children.
- Report any unusual symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness, numbness, vision or speech changes, or black or tarry stools to your doctor immediately.
Epifenac injection should be used for the shortest duration consistent with the treatment goals. Transition to oral or rectal diclofenac should occur as soon as clinically indicated.
