Description
Airfast 10mg 30 Tablets contain montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It is used to prevent asthma attacks and relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever). Montelukast works by blocking the action of leukotrienes, substances in the body that cause inflammation and narrowing of the airways.
Uses:
- Prevention of asthma attacks.
- Long-term control of asthma.
- Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever).
- Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
Dosage and Administration:
The usual dose for adults and adolescents 15 years and older is one 10mg tablet once daily, usually in the evening. For exercise-induced bronchoconstriction, take one tablet at least 2 hours before exercise. Airfast can be taken with or without food. Follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor.
Warnings:
- Do not use if you are allergic to montelukast or any of the other ingredients.
- Montelukast is not intended to treat acute asthma attacks. Use your rescue inhaler for sudden breathing problems.
- Consult your doctor before use if you have liver problems.
- Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- This medication may cause neuropsychiatric events, including agitation, aggression, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, irritability, restlessness, suicidal thinking and behavior, and tremor. Report any changes in mood or behavior to your doctor immediately.
- Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, as they may interact with montelukast.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Possible Side Effects:
- Headache.
- Stomach pain.
- Heartburn.
- Diarrhea.
- Nausea.
- Neuropsychiatric events (see warnings).
- Rash.

Montelukast sodium, and other inactive ingredients.
Note: Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better. Regular monitoring of asthma symptoms is important while taking this medication. Report any worsening of asthma symptoms or changes in mood or behavior to your doctor immediately.
