Description
Acuvail 0.45% Vial contains ketorolac tromethamine, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation following cataract surgery. It is a sterile ophthalmic solution provided in single-use vials.
Uses:
- Treatment of postoperative pain and inflammation following cataract surgery.
Dosage and Administration:
The usual dose is one drop instilled into the affected eye(s) twice daily beginning 1 day prior to cataract surgery, continued on the day of surgery, and for the first 2 weeks of the postoperative period. Do not touch the vial tip to any surface, including the eye, to avoid contamination. Discard the single-use vial after use. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.
Warnings:
- Do not use if you are allergic to ketorolac tromethamine or any of the other ingredients.
- Use with caution in patients with known bleeding tendencies or who are receiving other medications that may prolong bleeding.
- Use with caution in patients with complicated ocular surgeries, corneal denervation, corneal epithelial defects, diabetes mellitus, or dry eye syndrome.
- Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- This medication may cause temporary blurred vision. Avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear.
- Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, as they may interact with ketorolac.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Possible Side Effects:
- Ocular burning or stinging.
- Ocular irritation or pain.
- Blurred vision.
- Corneal edema.
- Increased intraocular pressure.
- Dry eye.
- Headache.

Note: If you experience severe eye pain, changes in vision, or persistent irritation, consult your doctor immediately. Use only as directed by your doctor. Discard the single-use vial after use.
