Actrapid HM Injection

Description

Actrapid HM Injection is a short-acting human insulin used to control high blood sugar in people with diabetes mellitus. It is typically used before meals to help manage blood sugar levels. Actrapid HM is a soluble insulin, meaning it is clear and works quickly.

Uses:

• Treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus.
• Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus when other medications are not effective.
• Management of diabetic ketoacidosis.
• Control of blood sugar in gestational diabetes.

Dosage and Administration:

Actrapid HM is administered by subcutaneous injection, usually 30 minutes before meals. The dosage is individualized and determined by your doctor based on your blood sugar levels, diet, and activity level. Your doctor will provide detailed instructions on how to administer the injection. Rotate injection sites to prevent lipodystrophy (changes in fatty tissue). Actrapid HM can also be administered intravenously in emergency situations, but this should only be done by healthcare professionals.

Warnings:

• Do not use if you are allergic to human insulin or any of the other ingredients.
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is a common side effect. Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly and be aware of the symptoms of hypoglycemia (sweating, trembling, dizziness, confusion).
• Hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) can occur if you miss a dose or do not take enough insulin. Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly and be aware of the symptoms of hyperglycemia (increased thirst, frequent urination, blurred vision).
• Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, as they may interact with insulin.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• Changes in diet or activity level may require adjustments to your insulin dosage.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Possible Side Effects:

• Redness or swelling at the injection site.
• Weight gain.
