Description
Slinda 4Mg tablets contain 4 milligrams of drospirenone. Drospirenone is a synthetic progestogen, and Slinda is classified as a progestogen-only contraceptive pill (POP), also sometimes referred to as the mini-pill. Unlike combined oral contraceptives, POPs do not contain estrogen.
Slinda is used by women to prevent pregnancy. It works primarily by inhibiting ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary). Additionally, it causes changes in the cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to reach the uterus, and it can also affect the lining of the uterus (endometrium), making it less receptive to implantation of a fertilized egg.
Each pack of Slinda contains 28 tablets. These tablets are to be taken orally once daily, every day, at the same time each day. Unlike some older POPs, Slinda has a 24-hour window for taking the pill if you are late (meaning you are still protected against pregnancy if you take it within 24 hours of the usual time). However, taking it at the same time every day is still recommended for maximum effectiveness.
Progestogen-only pills like Slinda may be suitable for women who cannot take estrogen-containing contraceptives, such as those who are breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions (like a history of blood clots or certain types of migraine), or are older than 35 and smoke.
Common side effects of Slinda can include changes in menstrual bleeding patterns (which may be irregular, infrequent, or prolonged), headache, acne, breast tenderness, and mood changes. As with all medications, it is important to discuss your medical history and any other medications you are taking with your doctor before starting Slinda to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you.
