Description

Nevanac Eye Drop is an ophthalmic suspension containing nepafenac as its active ingredient. Nepafenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory prodrug. When instilled into the eye, nepafenac penetrates the cornea and is converted by ocular tissue hydrolases to amfenac, its active form. Amfenac works by inhibiting the action of prostaglandin H synthase (cyclooxygenase), an enzyme that plays a key role in the production of prostaglandins, which are mediators of inflammation in the eye.

Nevanac Eye Drops are specifically indicated for the treatment of:

  • Postoperative inflammation and pain in patients who have undergone cataract surgery.

The formulation is a sterile ophthalmic suspension provided in a dropper bottle for easy and direct application into the eye(s).

Nevanac Eye Drop ophthalmic suspension is indicated for the treatment of postoperative inflammation and pain associated with cataract surgery.

Directions for use: The usual dosage is one drop of Nevanac instilled into the affected eye(s) three times daily, beginning 1 day prior to cataract surgery, continued on the day of surgery, and for the first 2 weeks of the postoperative period, as directed by your eye doctor. Shake the bottle well before each use. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip to any surface, including your eye. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using Nevanac Eye Drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.

Important Information: Nevanac Eye Drop is a prescription medication for ophthalmic use only. Inform your eye doctor if you are allergic to nepafenac, any other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as aspirin or ibuprofen, or any other ingredients in the eye drops. Tell your eye doctor about your medical history, especially if you have bleeding problems, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, dry eye syndrome, or have had complicated eye surgeries. The use of NSAIDs may be associated with an increased risk of ocular adverse events including keratitis (inflammation of the cornea) and corneal thinning or perforation, especially in patients with certain risk factors. Do not use this medication if you have an active eye infection. If you develop new or worsening eye symptoms such as decreased vision, eye pain, redness, or itching, contact your eye doctor immediately. Inform your eye doctor about all other medications you are using, including other eye drops or ointments. Keep out of reach of children. Store at room temperature away from heat and light. Do not freeze.
