Description
Mixtard 30Hm Penfill 5*3Ml is a biphasic human insulin preparation. This means it contains a mixture of two types of insulin: a rapid-acting soluble insulin (30%) and an intermediate-acting isophane insulin (70%). This combination helps to provide both a quick initial lowering of blood glucose levels at meal times and a longer-lasting effect to cover blood glucose control between meals and overnight.
Mixtard 30Hm is used to treat diabetes mellitus (both type 1 and type 2) in individuals who require insulin to manage their blood sugar levels. It is administered by subcutaneous injection using a compatible insulin pen injection device.
The “30Hm” designation indicates the specific formulation, with “30” referring to the percentage of rapid-acting insulin. “Penfill” indicates that the insulin is contained in a 3ml cartridge designed for use with a reusable insulin pen. The pack contains 5 such cartridges.
Mixtard 30Hm Penfill is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Its biphasic formulation provides both rapid and intermediate-acting insulin to help manage blood glucose levels throughout the day.
Directions for use: Mixtard 30Hm Penfill is administered by subcutaneous injection using a compatible insulin pen. The dose is individualized and determined by your doctor based on your blood glucose levels, diet, and physical activity. Inject Mixtard 30Hm approximately 30 minutes before a meal. Rotate injection sites within the same general area (e.g., abdomen, thigh, upper arm) to help prevent lipodystrophy (changes in fat tissue under the skin). Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully regarding injection technique, timing of meals, and blood glucose monitoring.
Important Information: Mixtard 30Hm is a prescription medication. Inform your doctor if you have any allergies to human insulin or any other ingredients in the product. Monitor your blood glucose levels regularly as directed by your doctor. Symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may include sweating, shakiness, confusion, dizziness, and hunger. Always have a source of fast-acting sugar available to treat hypoglycemia. Symptoms of hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) may include increased thirst, frequent urination, and blurred vision. Seek medical attention if you experience persistent high or low blood sugar levels. Tell your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements, as they can affect blood glucose control. Do not stop using insulin unless directed by your doctor. Store unopened Penfill cartridges in a refrigerator (2°C – 8°C) and protect from light. Do not freeze. Once in use, the Penfill can be kept at room temperature (up to 30°C) for a certain period (refer to the product leaflet) and should be protected from direct heat and light. Keep out of reach of children.
