Description
Megamox 625Mg 20Tab is a higher strength antibiotic tablet containing a combination of two active ingredients: amoxicillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. Clavulanic acid helps amoxicillin to be more effective by preventing certain bacteria from inactivating it.
Megamox 625mg tablets are used to treat a variety of bacterial infections in adults and older children, including:
- Upper respiratory tract infections (such as sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis)
- Lower respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia)
- Ear infections (otitis media)
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Dental infections
- Bone and joint infections
The 625mg strength indicates the combined amount of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid in each tablet. This higher strength may be prescribed for more severe infections or in adults and older children requiring a higher dose.
Megamox 625Mg Tablets are indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible strains of designated microorganisms in the conditions listed above. The higher strength formulation is often preferred for more severe infections or in patient populations requiring higher doses as determined by a healthcare professional.
Directions for use: The usual adult dose is one tablet every 8 hours, or as directed by your doctor. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food, although taking them at the start of a meal may help to reduce stomach upset. Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully regarding the dose and duration of treatment. It is important to complete the full course of antibiotics, even if you start to feel better, to ensure the infection is completely eradicated and to prevent antibiotic resistance.
Important Information: Megamox is a prescription antibiotic. Inform your doctor if you have any allergies, especially to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics (such as cephalosporins). Also, tell your doctor about any other medications you are taking. Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash. If these side effects persist or become bothersome, consult your doctor. Serious allergic reactions are rare but can occur; seek immediate medical attention if you develop symptoms such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a severe rash. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C.
