Gaviscon Peppermint 16 Tablets are chewable antacid tablets designed to provide fast relief from heartburn and indigestion, with a refreshing peppermint flavor. These tablets contain two main active ingredients: sodium alginate and antacids (sodium bicarbonate and calcium carbonate). When chewed and swallowed, sodium alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a protective gel-like raft on top of the stomach contents. This raft helps to prevent stomach acid from flowing back up into the esophagus, effectively relieving heartburn. The antacids work to neutralize excess stomach acid, providing relief from indigestion and associated discomfort.
This pack of 16 chewable tablets is convenient for on-the-go relief from occasional heartburn and acid indigestion, such as that experienced after meals or at night. The peppermint flavor provides a pleasant taste and may also offer a cooling sensation.
Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets are used for the relief of:
- Heartburn (acid reflux).
- Indigestion.
- Acid regurgitation.
Directions for use: Adults and children over 12 years: Chew 2-4 tablets thoroughly after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Do not swallow whole. Do not take more than 16 tablets in 24 hours. If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, consult your doctor. Caution should be taken by individuals with high sodium levels or kidney problems due to the sodium and calcium content. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications, as Gaviscon may affect the absorption of some medicines. It is generally recommended to leave a 2-hour interval between taking Gaviscon and other medications.
