Description

Diprosalic 30Gm Ointment is a topical medication that combines two active ingredients: betamethasone dipropionate and salicylic acid. This 30-gram tube of ointment is used to treat certain skin conditions characterized by scaling and inflammation. Betamethasone dipropionate is a high-potency corticosteroid that works to reduce inflammation, itching, and redness. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent, which means it helps to soften and shed the outer layer of skin (stratum corneum), reducing scaling and allowing the corticosteroid to penetrate more effectively. Diprosalic Ointment is commonly used for conditions such as:

• Psoriasis, especially chronic plaque psoriasis and psoriasis of the scalp
• Seborrheic dermatitis
• Other scaling dermatoses where inflammation is also present

The ointment base of Diprosalic provides a moisturizing effect and enhances the penetration of the active ingredients into the skin, making it particularly useful for thick, scaly lesions.

Directions for Use:

1. Apply a thin layer of Diprosalic Ointment to the affected skin area(s) once or twice daily, or as directed by your doctor.
2. Gently rub the ointment into the skin until it is absorbed.
3. Wash your hands after applying the ointment, unless your hands are the treated area.
4. For scalp psoriasis, the ointment can be applied to the affected areas of the scalp.
5. Do not use Diprosalic Ointment on the face, groin, or underarms unless specifically directed by your doctor. These areas are more prone to increased absorption and potential side effects.
6. Do not cover the treated area with bandages or other occlusive dressings unless instructed by your doctor. Occlusion can increase the absorption of the medication and the risk of side effects.

The duration of treatment with Diprosalic Ointment should be limited to the shortest period necessary to control the condition. Prolonged use of topical corticosteroids can lead to local and systemic side effects.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor if you have any allergies to betamethasone dipropionate, salicylic acid, other corticosteroids, salicylates (like aspirin), or any other ingredients in Diprosalic Ointment.
• Provide your doctor with your complete medical history, especially if you have any skin infections, rosacea, perioral dermatitis, Cushing’s syndrome, diabetes, or circulatory problems.
• Topical corticosteroids can be absorbed systemically, potentially leading to systemic side effects, especially with prolonged use over large areas of skin or under occlusion.
• Salicylic acid can also be absorbed systemically, especially if used over large areas or for prolonged periods.
• Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
• Use caution when treating large areas of skin in children, as they may be more susceptible to systemic absorption and side effects. Salicylic acid should be used with caution in children due to the risk of salicylate toxicity.
• Consult your doctor before using Diprosalic Ointment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The potential risks and benefits should be discussed.
• Do not use this medication for conditions for which it was not prescribed.
• Keep this medication out of the reach of children. If swallowed, seek medical help immediately.
