Crestor 20Mg 28Tab contains rosuvastatin calcium as its active ingredient. Each tablet contains 20 milligrams of rosuvastatin, which is a higher strength compared to the 10mg version of Crestor. Rosuvastatin belongs to a class of medications called statins or HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. It works by slowing the production of cholesterol in the liver and helping the body remove cholesterol from the blood. Crestor 20Mg is primarily used to lower high levels of total cholesterol, LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, and triglycerides, and to increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol. It is also prescribed to slow the progression of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, and the need for certain heart procedures in adults with risk factors for heart disease or those who require a more significant reduction in their cholesterol levels. Rarely, statins can cause more serious muscle problems (rhabdomyolysis) or liver problems. The risk of muscle problems may be higher with higher doses. Report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever or dark urine, to your doctor immediately.
- Your doctor will likely order regular blood tests to monitor your cholesterol levels and liver function while you are taking Crestor.
