Description
Aerius 5mg 18 Tablets contain desloratadine, an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms associated with allergies, such as hay fever and chronic urticaria (hives). Desloratadine works by blocking histamine, a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms.
Uses:
- Relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis (hay fever), such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose, itchy palate, and itchy, watery, red eyes.
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic urticaria (hives), such as itching and hives.
Dosage and Administration:
The usual dose for adults and adolescents 12 years and over is one 5mg tablet once daily. Tablets can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Follow the dosage instructions on the packaging or as directed by your doctor.
Warnings:
- Do not use if you are allergic to desloratadine or any of the other ingredients.
- Consult your doctor before use if you have kidney or liver problems.
- Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- This medication may cause drowsiness in some people. Use caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how this medication affects you.
- Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter medications and herbal supplements, as they may interact with desloratadine.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Possible Side Effects:
- Headache.
- Dry mouth.
- Fatigue.
- Drowsiness (less common than with older antihistamines).
- Sore throat.
- Nausea.
